It started with nine pieces, made by hand, in 2003.
Andre Sengul made them himself and sold them wholesale. He comes from a family in the jewelry trade and went into it straight out of high school, starting as a diamond dealer in the Los Angeles jewelry district.
He came to retail from the stone trade, which is why a conversation here tends to start with the stone.

The years
How Greenleaf grew.
- 1992 Andre arrives in the United States.
- 1998 He begins working on Hill Street, in the Los Angeles jewelry district.
- 2003 Nine pieces, made by hand, sold wholesale.Wholesale only, for the next four years.
- 2007 The first store opens in a cruise port in Skagway, Alaska.The first time Greenleaf sold to anyone directly.
- Later The store moves to Maui.Andre came here on vacation and decided to move the business to the island.
